Railways signs Rs 40,000-crore pacts with GE and Alstom

In a bonanza of sorts for Bihar, the 10 year stalled plan of setting up Diesel and Electric locomotive factories at Marhowra and Madhepura respectively, has finally seen the light of the day with Indian Railways signing the formal contract agreement with USA based GE (Marhowra) and France based Alstom (Madhepura) on Monday in the presence of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The projects which will attract an investment of Rs 40,000 core over a period of 10 years is supposed to be the biggest foreign direct investment in the railway sector. Read More
