Paper waste made non-toxic green Aerogel
In a recent research, paper waste have successfully been turned into green nontoxic cellulose aerogels by the scientists of National University of Singapore (NUS). Aerogels are basically among the lightest solid materials available in the world. These are known as one of the finest insulation materials available in the world. These are basically ultra-light, non-toxic, flexible, extremely strong and water repellent. It has low thermal conductivity and possess high value oil absorption capacity. Its fabrication process consumes less energy and on the other hand, releases fewer polluting emissions into the air and water.Currently, aerogels are mainly made up of silica which not so much environment-friendly.
