DRDO sets up world’s Highest Terrestrial Research Centre in Ladakh

DRDO - News Update 6th October 2015Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has established the world’s Highest Terrestrial Research Centre near Pengong Lake at Changla in Ladakh. The centre dubbed as Extreme Altitude Research Centre is located at 17,600 feet above mean sea level and was inaugurated by Director General of DRDO Dr S Christopher.

Key features

Leh based Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) was nodal DRDO establishment to established this centre. The centre will serve as a natural cold storage for preserving endangered and rare medical plants for future generations. Read More
